There are many different types of fungal infections. Some of the most common include athlete's foot (tinea pedis), and nail fungus (onychomycosis). On the hands and feet, infections can be found under the nail on or around the cuticles, and near the tips of the nails. Fungal infections such as nail fungus or athlete's foot are very contagious. The fungus spreads when someone comes into contact with someone else's fungus through objects such as shoes, towels, nail care and even the shower floor.
